BT Wholesale launches WHC Teams Direct Connect for
channel partners and their small business customers

  • Allows for high-quality digital phone calls across all devices via Microsoft Teams
  • Simple and quick to deploy – doesn’t require specialist IT support or training
  • Enables partners to capitalise on growing demands for collaboration solutions

London, UK – 26 May 2022 – BT Wholesale announces the launch of WHC Teams Direct Connect, giving businesses the ability to access external calling for Microsoft Teams using its cloud-based phone solution, Wholesale Hosted Communications (WHC). Built for the channel market, WHC Teams Direct Connect is quick and easy to deploy and doesn’t require specialist IT support.

Phone calls are one of the most popular communication tools used by small businesses. WHC Teams Direct Connect allows access to Hosted PBX or Hosted SIP Trunking directly from within Teams. This gives businesses high-quality digital phone calls on all their devices, with all the usual benefits of WHC, including call recording and analytics.

Demand for communication and collaboration software has boomed in recent years, and right now, Microsoft Teams has the biggest market share. There are approximately 6.75 million Microsoft Teams users in the UK, and that’s predicted to rise to 10 million by 2023* .

WHC Teams Direct Connect offers:

  • Flexibility: Partners can mix and match Hosted PBX, Hosted SIP Trunking, and Teams to build the right solutions for their customers
  • Simplicity: Ordering and deployment is quick and easy without needing specialist IT support or experiencing long wait times
  • Savings: As well as competitive pricing, it doesn’t require end customers to invest in IT development or training

Benefits to customers include improved collaboration for hybrid working, providing a simple and cost-effective way to get calls in Teams, with everything in one place. Users can have the same number anywhere, on any device, alongside quick service set-up. The solution is also natively connected to BT’s WHC automated ordering journey, allowing end users to be added in real time and making calls in a matter of minutes.

Bringing Microsoft Teams into our WHC portfolio was a natural next step for our partners and their customers. At BT Wholesale we want to ensure our propositions are adding the best value. Microsoft Teams is a great platform that many businesses rely on, but we wanted to take our support further by adding the extra functionality of allowing phone calls. This is a simple and cost-effective way to get calls in Teams so that we can deliver the greatest benefits to our partners and their customers.
