A big push in our fibre node expansion programme
40% increase in the number of live nodes

We've been busy delivering more Ethernet fibre nodes this year – we now have a total of 1,911 fully operational and dual-parented nodes. That represents a 40% increase in the number of nodes. This will allow more customers to benefit from the most competitive Local Access pricing.

The programme has included the delivery of fibre nodes in locations that are difficult to reach, in areas such as Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Other nodes have been used around UK cities to increase the coverage of local access connectivity.

Fewer than ten remaining sites are left in Lanarkshire, the Scottish Highlands and Anglesey, and these are due for completion between January and May 2017. We'll continue to review our geographic footprint and availability and, wherever commercially viable, will seek to meet new needs that arise.
