Wholesale Ethernet: the low-down

Why buy Wholesale Ethernet?

Here are a few facts to get you started:

Lower costs – Wholesale Ethernet is ten times cheaper than traditional WAN solutions. In addition, radio  access offers resilience and avoids high excess construction charges.

Greater flexibility – our Ethernet solutions can support bandwidth options from 0.2Mbps to 10Gbps.

Faster set-up and upgrades – Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) can be set up in as little as 25 working days. You can upgrade your Etherflow bandwidth in only 30 minutes.

And here are a few descriptions that might help:

What is next-generation fibre?

Next-generation fibre, or GEA (Generic Ethernet Access) is our latest access option in the Wholesale Ethernet portfolio. GEA uses Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) and Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) access. This means you can connect into the heart of BT Wholesale’s Ethernet network. And that’s not all. It offers the lowest cost access option available and is an ideal entry-level solution.

What is Ethernet in the First Mile?

Our EFM uses high-performance access technology to provide Ethernet connectivity into the BT Wholesale Ethernet network – without the need for new cabling, expensive infrastructure or updated equipment. EFM offers a low-cost and reliable alternative to fibre, with a range of bandwidth and scalable options to suit your  customers’ exact requirements.

What is dedicated fibre?

Traditional fibre access options are available at bandwidth speeds of 10Mbit/s, 100Mbit/s, 1Gbit/s and 10Gbit/s, as well as a full range of resilience options. Dedicated fibre access is delivered directly into your premises and is backed by strong in-life service level guarantees.
