The NTS formula is used to derive pricing for NTS interconnect payments relating to BT originating and Communication Provider (CP) terminating traffic. This formula combines the BT retail price, BT's average level of discounts and network costs to derive a receipt to BT, or a payment to CPs.
To improve pricing transparency, BTW provides a spreadsheet, the “NTS calculator”, showing the calculations applied by BT in deriving the relevant out payment to either party.
Following an Ofcom direction that required the NCD methodology to be withdrawn, the INCA/CLI methodology, relating payments to actual network usage, is applied by BT to NTS calls originating on the BT network from 1 December 2005.
The NTS calculator has now been updated to allow drop down selection of the point of handover, thereby determining the network usage and it displays the resulting interconnect payments that will apply using the INCA/CLI methodology.
