Ewhurst a 'broadband notspot'

A village in Surrey is a broadband 'notspot' and local residents are demanding better internet connections.

That is according to the Surrey Advertiser, which reported that people living in Ewhurst are fed up with the speed of their broadband.

Many of the people who live in the village are unable to access connections of 2MB per second, the local newspaper revealed.

The government is hoping that everyone in the country will be able to access internet of at least 2MB by 2012.

However, local communications engineer Walter Wilcox believes 2MB will be an out-of-date speed in four years' time.

Mr Wilcox suggested that in order to help improve connections in Ewhurst, fibre-to-the-cabinet (FTTC) technology should be installed by BT.

He commented: "We still have some way to go before we achieve FTTC in Ewhurst - BT are now actively developing this infrastructure method, but not here."
