BT introduces Live Chat for customers

BT is now offering its customers a new way to receive information, resolve queries or make purchases.

The telecoms firm has introduced Live Chat, an instant-messenger style solution which is available on its Inclusion website.

According the company, the service will be particularly useful for those who have difficulty communicating over the telephone as it gives them access to an advisor via an alternate method.

Dr Lorraine Gailey, chief executive officer of Hearing Concern LINK, said: "We support the concept of BT's Live Chat real time text system and have asked Ofcom to encourage further usage of such communication amongst other service providers."

Customers will be able to enquire about billing, account changes, different products and services or to request BT literature in different formats.

Recently, BT announced revenue growth of one per cent in the first quarter of 2009.<br/>
