Social networking 'makes the world a smaller place'

Social networking websites are making the world seem smaller and allow people to discover new things, it has been claimed.

According to Expedia.co.uk, people are more likely to adventure out of their comfort zone if they can meet people via sites such as Facebook or Twitter who has been to various places around the world.

Furthermore, although people are unlikely to change their minds about where they want to go on holiday after being on a social networking site, it will give them more information about a destination.

Jonathan Cudworth, head of product marketing at Expedia.co.uk, commented: "Although, UK people aren't very adventurous by nature and we're a small island - there is a lot to see in Britain but there is more of a world out there."

According to research from the company, 23 per cent of workers admit that they use technology such as laptops to check their emails when they are away from the office.<br/>
