Advances in mobile communications technology and falling costs are making it easier for businesses to adopt mobile working strategies, a network operator has claimed.
Previously, many companies had been put off mobile working solutions because of the high costs attached to voice and data transmission, but increasingly competitive pricing plans and IP-based services are making it more of a possibility.
That is according to 3 UK, which added that mobile working practices allow employees to be more flexible and adopt a better work-life balance.
Renato Bottini, head of business at the company, explained: "It is all about people now choosing when and where they want to work and how they want to work and be productive and flexible.
"It's not about the hours we work or being a slave to our devices, it's about our devices being slaves to us and us choosing our working habits."
Research carried out for 3 UK this month revealed that British employees like to remain available for phone and email contact when they are out of the office.
A survey of office staff indicated that a quarter of people work while they commute to work, while a fifth send business emails after hours from pubs and restaurants.
