IP PBX Systems 'Transform' Enterprise Communications

Internet-based private branch exchanges (IP PBXs) can transform enterprise communications systems, helping them to improve the quality of their voice-over-internet (VoIP) services.

That is according to business technology news site TMCnet.com, which explained that the exchanges are also extremely cost-efficient due to their ability to merge analogue and digital voice signals.

The website explained that IP PBXs transform phone systems to server-based software solutions that allow for the effective switching of calls between local land lines and VoIP users.

It said: "The most notable thing regarding these solutions is that they use voice networks and converged data. This actually means that one can easily access internet, conventional telephone and VoIP communication."

Meanwhile, a report recently issued by InfoTech revealed that seven in ten organisations plan to implement unified communications (UC) systems, or have done so already.

UC solutions provide an integrated platform for VoIP, email, instant messaging, web conferencing, desktop video and other communication channels.
