Right Solution Required 'to Cut Mobile Costs'

Businesses looking at ways of reducing their mobile communication costs should look at internet-based alternatives, such as mobile voice-over-internet (VoIP), it has been claimed.

According to internet solutions provider Gradwell, mobile VoIP is a much cheaper solution than existing network carrier payment plans, and could make substantial improvements to a company's bottom line.

Peter Gradwell, manager of the company, explained that VoIP is becoming "really popular" among enterprises, but added that many still do not know that it is a viable solution for them.

"I think it's a case of inertia - although 42 per cent of businesses think they're paying too much (for mobile communications) and would like it to cost less, can they be bothered to do anything about it?

"It's a case of them finding out what the other options are, but there's a lot of stuff out there which would make it cheaper," he added.

Research published in April 2008 by mobile operator T-Mobile indicated that 60 per cent of small businesses spend at least five hours out of the office every week, but that 65 per cent have no means by which to control the costs associated with their mobile communications.
