Users Adopting Mobile broadband

More businesses and consumers are choosing to implement mobile broadband strategies at the expense of fixed-line connections, it has been revealed.

A report published by research company YouGov indicated that one in eight mobile broadband users chose the solution as a direct replacement for their fixed-line internet service.

What's more, five per cent of those people or companies with both fixed-line and mobile broadband connections suggested that they will be moving solely to the mobile option over the next year.

Marek Vaygelt, head of technology at YouGov, explained: "Customers find mobile broadband easy to use and install but transmission speeds and to a less extent network coverage reduce the initial enjoyment of getting up and running."

"It is in these areas that fixed ISPs have a distinct advantage and need to concentrate their marketing effort to minimise customer loss."

Last month, technology research company Analysys Mason forecast that there will be 2.1 billion global wireless broadband customers generating $784 billion (£421 million) in service revenue by 2015.<br/>
