Managed Network Services 'Deliver Wide Ranging Benefits'


Application availability, networking cost and application response times are the main indicators by which organisations are evaluating the quality of their managed network services (MNS), a new report by Aberdeen has revealed.

According to the research, leading organisations reported an 88 per cent average increase in application availability, a 30 per cent average cost saving, and all reported improved application response times for business critical processes as a result of their MNS initiatives.

Bojan Simic, research analyst at Aberdeen, said: "Organisational goals for network management are rapidly changing and organizations are expecting more than cost savings and network up-time, but are still struggling to adjust SLAs to help them achieve these newly expanded goals."

Among the other business benefits that MNS schemes deliver to organisations, Aberdeen identified wide area network (WAN) acceleration, improved visibility into network services and improved service level agreement (SLA) achievements.

Meanwhile, a new report from the Computer Technology Industry Association has indicated that, as a growing number of mobile and remote devices are connected to enterprise networks, IT managers are becoming increasingly concerned over security issues.

In a survey of chief information officers, more than half of the respondents admitted that they are more concerned about mobile device security now than they were 12 months ago.<br/>
