DAM Solutions 'Attracting Greater Interest'

As business interest in digital asset management (DAM) applications continues to grow, the global market for these solutions is set to expand rapidly, tripling by 2013, according to ABI Research.

The firm predicted that adoption rates and market growth would vary between the Europe, North America and Asia, but added that the recent proliferation of digital media content and development of mobile devices on which to view it were common growth drivers.

"We can add the widespread availability of broadband data services to distribute it, and the need for systems that can store and deliver that content to the right people at the right time," said Zippy Aima, industry analyst at ABI Research.

The analyst forecast that the IPTV market would find particular traction, especially in Europe and Asia, adding that the pay-TV business model would do well, with the number of videos being viewed increasing six times by 2013.

Last month, Aberdeen published a report suggesting that enterprises will invest heavily in mobile devices and applications over the next year, in an attempt to improve operational efficiencies and collaboration.

Surveying nearly 5,000 companies, it learned that there has been a 7.6 per cent average increase in planned enterprise mobility spending.<br/>
