SMBs Stick with ISPs Despite Connection Problems

One in three small and medium sized businesses (SMBs) in the UK has experience connectivity and performance issues with their internet service provider (ISP), but only one in ten would consider switching to a different provider.

That is according to new research commissioned by business internet provider Easynet Connect, which indicated that the business market varies drastically from the consumer landscape, where customers regularly switch providers.

The research also revealed that, although most SMBs have embraced the internet as an integral part of their business in the last five years, many do not have the internal skills and resources to fully understand the products that they depending on and the business value they can deliver.

Chris Stening, managing director of Easynet Connect, said: "SMBs ultimately need the freedom to focus on growing their business, achieving commercial goals and improving profitability.

"This survey reveals that the internet is now at the heart of making a business a success but poor service levels and lack of support are currently being tolerated – this should not be the case."

Easynet Connect has the second largest network in the UK, with a total of 6030km of fibre and last mile access to more than 70 per cent of all UK businesses via its 1200 unbundles exchanges.<br/>
