Leading IT organisations are adopting innovative best practices with regards to the management and delivery of IT services, a new study has revealed.
According to research from consultant Unisys Corporation, 25 per cent of technology enterprises are emerging as leaders because of the effectiveness with which they manage IT resources to achieve key business objectives.
Questioning 550 IT executives from around the world, Unisys learned that best-practice firms use their outsourcing relationships to achieve for continuous improvement and advance their business goals.
Bard De Maertelaere, vice president of IT outsourcing services at Unisys, explained that IT executives are coming to realise that the greatest benefits are to be found in the innovation of IT service management.
"To be leaders, IT executives must adopt proven best practices that enable truly collaborative innovation between their organization and the businesses they serve," he said.
Meanwhile, Gartner is set to announce predictions that the IT services market will continue to grow in the future, despite fears of an economic downturn.
According to ZDNet.co.uk, the analyst will tell those in attendance at its upcoming Outsourcing and IT Services Summit in London (June 2nd, 2008), that over half of all companies will increase their spending on external IT services in 2008, with only 10 per cent reducing it.
