New communications application launched for SMEs

A new mobile and internet communications application ideal for the needs of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) has been launched by communications provider Nimbuzz.

The unified platform allows users to take advantage of free mobile calls via Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services, conference calling and instant messaging (IM) compatible with Skype, MSN, Google Talk, AIM, ICQ and Yahoo!, as well as 23 leading social networking sites, including Facebook and MySpace.

The application is free to download, and aggregates contacts from various other IM communities into one easily manageable contact list.

Tariq Dag Steinberg Khan, chief marketing officer for Nimbuzz, said: "Everyone loves Skype (on the PC). But when it comes to the mobile, we believe we offer a better solution. With this new release, we now have a genuine free mobile VoIP solution that works on more than 90 handsets including Nokia, Samsung and LG."

It has been reported this week that UK supermarket chain Tesco is on the verge of announcing a new mobile VoIP offering, in association with Australian internet telephony company Freshtel.
