UC 'a strategic tool for business growth'

Unified Communications (UC) solutions provide a way for enterprises to improve their business process efficiencies while reducing their carbon output, it has been claimed.

According to IDC, enterprises can use UC to bridge the gap between different communication systems that are not readily interoperable and multiple devices that operate via different communication modes.

Furthermore, the analyst noted that UC can be used by chief information officers (CIOs) to ensure that a company's communication applications and systems remain closely aligned to their business processes, something that is increasingly being recognised as a key requirement of business growth.

"Business communication is on the cusp of a new era in which it will play a central role in helping information workers deliver with speed and accuracy," said Rosalie Nelson, research manager of telecommunications for IDC New Zealand.

"Unified Communications transforms commonplace business applications into smart intuitive collaborative environments for instant decision-making and fast turnaround."

Last month, IDC told website vnunet.com that UC can transform standard business applications into smart, collaborative environments suitable for instant decision making and fast turnaround.
