Project engineering

Providing high-level professionalism for assured high-level performance.

Infrastructure build projects easily become complex. That’s why we use professional project engineering management (PEM) ourselves to ensure that work is properly planned, that any changes are effectively handled and that everything is delivered to the required performance and quality.

We can offer professional project engineering management to you as a complementary skill for all our capabilities, covering installation, commissioning and rationalisation of most types of networks.

Our PEM experts can be involved from preliminary planning through to final delivery, co-ordinating the work of all suppliers and working to achieve optimum use of available assets. You’ll have controlled and visible management overheads, helping to deliver greater cost effectiveness on the project.

What we offer

Wide-ranging PEM capabilities and single point of contact for:

  • Initial planning
  • Risk assessment
  • Resource planning
  • Legal compliance and safety management (CDM/NRSWA)
  • Construction design management
  • Materials and task management
  • Quality assurance
  • Asset rationalisation
  • Progress reporting
  • Performance measurement

Our approach

Our PEM teams have skills and experience covering all aspects of telecommunications construction activities, ranging from external engineering, including cabling and jointing, to power, switch and transmission activities. The project engineer provides a single point of contact for queries relating directly to the installation and is the contact channel to our technical consultants.

In the pre-installation stage the project engineer will work with you on design specifications, execution programmes and project management plans. He will carry out site surveys and quantify materials required. He will draw up instructions, method statements, identify project risks and draw up contingency plans, ensuring all work is in line with the Telecom Act and any legal requirements applicable to the proposed work area.

Once the installation begins the project engineer can manage the implementation of bespoke solutions, including materials management, quality control and task delivery dates. Post installation the project engineer can help ensure that all requirements have been met, producing a closure report documenting the project progress and any variations from original specification.
