BT Wholesale provides a range of online tools for Service Providers to test End User connections and diagnose suspected faults. Fault Diagnostics enables Service Providers to test various aspects of the ADSL BT IPStream circuit from the IP layer down to the physical (copper) layer to identify if there is a fault and where it may be. Fault Diagnostics tools can also be used for some BT Datastream diagnostics.

Access to Fault Diagnostics is free of charge and gives Service Providers greater control of the End User experience, allowing real-time diagnosis of suspected faults before reporting them to BT Wholesale for investigation. Fault Diagnostics has helped reduce significantly the number of faults reported to BT Wholesale and this has helped to increase satisfaction with how quickly reported faults are handled.

Each test automatically checks to confirm that the End User circuit belongs to the Service Provider testing it; if it does not, the test will stop.
