CPE Testing Programme Overview

From the thousands of tests already completed, BT is confident that the vast majority of customer equipment connected to current telephone and broadband services will work normally on the network once it has been switched-on provided it conforms to published industry specifications.

You and your customers can find out which equipment has been tested here. These web pages also include general updates and statements on compatibility for whole groups of equipment which should be used in conjunction with the list of tested equipment to help you to advise your customers on CPE compatibility. In many cases, conclusions can be drawn on a whole category of equipment from the test results of a representative sample, so absence from the list of tested equipment certainly does not imply that a particular item is incompatible or that it needs to be tested. If you have a particular concern about any equipment, please contact your communications provider or email cpe21@bt.com for assistance.

Engagement with industry associations

In addition to carrying out extensive consultation with other telecoms providers, BT is engaged with many Industry Associations. Examples include the British Security Industry Association, The Energy Networks Association (Gas and Electrical Utilities), Water Industry Telemetry Standards Association (Water Industry) and the Telecare Services Association (Social and Telecare Industry). These and other organisations are working with BT to ensure that representative testing of a whole range of equipment can be completed.
