PPC Equipment re-use

The PPC (partial private circuits) third party sited equipment re-use lift and shift service provides PECN (public electronic communications network) that have signed the PPC contract with the ability to relocate both SDH (synchronous digital hierarchy) and some types of PDH (plesiochronous digital hierarchy) third party sited PPC equipment to an alternative site on a case by case basis.

  • Only PPC equipment which has been installed under the terms of the PPC contract after 1 August 2001 will be eligible for re-use under this proposal.
  • BT owns the infrastructure. The PECN, which paid for the initial provision, has the sole right of use of the capacity for the purpose of routing new PPC circuits.
  • Prior to the PECN requesting lift and shift all circuits connected to the equipment must have been ceased or re-assigned elsewhere.
  • Lift and shift will be offered only on a bespoke basis. Price and requisite periods will be quoted on application.

Indicative sample prices are included in Annex A. The price on application template is included in Annex B of the PPC third party sited equipment re-use lift and shift service description on the PPC Reference site - see link on the right.

Where equipment is to be re-located, BT network operations will lift and shift PDH equipment and Marconi will lift and shift PECN SDH equipment.

Within relocation, BT and Marconi will not store any equipment. It will be transported directly between third party sites
